Things to know about stone

Stone comes in many different colours, textures and characteristics. Here are a few things you should consider when choosing the right stone for your project.

  • As stone is a natural material, exact colours and designs can never be guaranteed. As you cut through a mountain, the patterns and even the structure can change. The beauty of this is that each piece of stone is unique.

  • Think about your lifestyle. Each stone has different characteristics. For example, white carrara is beautiful yet easily stains, whereas granite is hardwearing but porous, so sealing is recommended. If you need help choosing, we are happy to help.

  • Thickness matters. Many people do not realise how delicate stone is when it is cut thinly. As experts with more than 30 years of experience in stone cutting, we can recommend the optimal thickness.

  • It's heavy. It seems pretty obvious, but stone is incredibly heavy. This means that for bigger projects, special lifting and transporting equipment may be necessary, incurring extra costs.
